A
CSX manifest with ample power awaits entry to Cumberland, Md.

At
Fairhope on the Sandpatch line, a local resident has built a
neat train watching platform.
|
|

|
And
again... no point in wasting the sole train after freezing one's
nuts off for three hours.

At
Lilly, three SD40-2s push on the rear of an uphill train. Damn
that power line.

A
loaded NS intermodal at the Cassandra train watchers bridge.

Quickly
followed by trailers headed by NS SD70m, Conrail and NS GEs.

Finally,
just after what sun there was had hazed over, a westbound
appears, led by a clean standard cab Conrail SD70.

This
little fellow has a great view of the trains from his home in
the bridge abutment. Apparently this is one of those "how
much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck
wood" critters.

|
Last
train for Cassandra was a big fat coal train that could be heard
for about 10 minutes before it arrived. The third of the four NS
SD40-2s on the point was clearly having issues.

|

|
The
lead unit of the helper set was also smoking a little, but the
train was making fair progress. Pretty cool to see 6 SD40-2s on a
train in this day and age.

A
quick race to the famous Horseshoe Curve caught the same train
heading down the other side of the hill in heavy dynamics.
